The primary function of this position is to provide a substance abuse prevention curriculum to high school-aged youth in Monroe County. The role involves engaging in direct staff hours of service for assigned clients, providing prevention counseling sessions to high school and middle school students at schools, and conducting individual, group, and school-wide activities per the prevention model. The specialist will also coordinate with schools and school personnel, attend Prevention Program quarterly meetings, training, and the annual conference, and function as a liaison for prevention to outside agencies. A key aspect of the role is demonstrating empathetic, professional behavior toward students, families, and school personnel, completing satisfaction surveys with participants, and embracing the mission, vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation. The position requires completing all orientation and mandated training activities within required timeframes and performing any other duties as assigned.
