About The Position

Join a supportive community health team dedicated to youth empowerment, health promotion, and community well-being. This flexible 25-hour-per-week position combines direct classroom engagement with community health outreach in Knox and Waldo counties.

Requirements

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in public health, education, human services, or a related field is welcome, but relevant life or work experience (teaching, mentoring youth, community outreach, camp counseling) is equally valued.
No prior certifications required upon hire. We fully cover the costs and guide you through obtaining your Provisional Prevention Specialist credential on the job.
Strong communication skills, enthusiasm for working with young people, and an approachable, non-judgmental attitude.
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for local travel (reimbursed at $0.56/mile).
Comfortable with basic Google Workspace / Microsoft Office tools and email.

Responsibilities

Deliver interactive, age-appropriate, evidence-informed health and substance use prevention education directly to K–12 students in local schools and afterschool programs.
Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and teachers to coordinate scheduling and foster positive school climates.
Help facilitate youth-driven activities, peer messaging, and student leadership opportunities that empower young people.
Provide community harm reduction education, overdose prevention awareness, and resource navigation support across Waldo County.
Maintain simple, clear records of classroom presentations and community outreach activities to support program goals.
