About The Position

Join a supportive community health team dedicated to youth empowerment, health promotion, and community well-being. This flexible 25-hour-per-week position combines direct classroom engagement with community health outreach in Knox and Waldo counties.

Requirements

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in public health, education, human services, or a related field is welcome, but relevant life or work experience (teaching, mentoring youth, community outreach, camp counseling) is equally valued.
  • No prior certifications required upon hire. We fully cover the costs and guide you through obtaining your Provisional Prevention Specialist credential on the job.
  • Strong communication skills, enthusiasm for working with young people, and an approachable, non-judgmental attitude.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for local travel (reimbursed at $0.56/mile).
  • Comfortable with basic Google Workspace / Microsoft Office tools and email.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver interactive, age-appropriate, evidence-informed health and substance use prevention education directly to K–12 students in local schools and afterschool programs.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and teachers to coordinate scheduling and foster positive school climates.
  • Help facilitate youth-driven activities, peer messaging, and student leadership opportunities that empower young people.
  • Provide community harm reduction education, overdose prevention awareness, and resource navigation support across Waldo County.
  • Maintain simple, clear records of classroom presentations and community outreach activities to support program goals.
