About The Position

Maine Family Planning is hiring a full-time Prevention Coordinator Trainer. The Prevention Coordinator Trainer will provide technical assistance, professional development, curriculum resources and support to educators in schools and youth-serving, community-based organizations to implement medically accurate, age-appropriate, inclusive evidence-based programs to promote healthy sexuality and prevention of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth-serving organizations or schools to implement prevention programs (minimum of 2-3 years professional experience preferred).
  • Commitment to a comprehensive approach to sexuality education and teen pregnancy prevention.
  • Substantial knowledge of issues related to health education and comprehensive sexuality education and/or youth prevention programming.
  • Experience delivering and coordinating education and training programs to improve knowledge, attitudes, and comfort level among youth-serving professionals in providing prevention programming to youth.
  • Experience and comfort in using computer programs to create and design materials, slide presentations, newsletters, etc.
  • Understanding of curriculum development and assessment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in collaborating with other youth-serving agencies and professionals to expand upon and promote prevention programming in Maine schools and communities.
  • Access to an automobile and valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work independently from home or another off-site location.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or health education.
