BUILD, Inc. (Broader Urban Involvement and Leadership Development) is seeking a committed, self-motivated, and innovative individual to join their team. BUILD is a nationally respected gang intervention, violence prevention, and youth development organization based on Chicago’s West Side, working to save lives and mentor young people in challenged neighborhoods. The Prevention Advocate (PA) position is dedicated to the Violence Prevention Villages (VPV) project, aiming to provide positive, proactive, and preventive upstream supports and services to youth Pre-K through 8th grade and their households. BUILD partners with schools to improve behavioral, social/emotional, and school outcomes for students, and engages the nonprofit ecosystem to support household wellbeing and stability. The PA will serve youth who are off track, street or gang-involved, and those involved in the juvenile justice system. The role is responsible for providing support, advocacy, opportunities, and community resources to prevent entry or return to the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (CCJTDC). The PA will collaborate with other program departments and support staff to ensure youth are integrated into programs that dissuade them from gangs or other destructive activities. The Prevention Advocate reports directly to the Violence Prevention Village Senior Manager.
