About The Position

The SpringHill Suites by Marriott, located in Downtown Columbia, SC, is hiring for a full-time Preventative Maintenance Technician. The person hired for this position will need flexibility to work AM or PM shifts; weekday and weekend availability is required. This role involves performing scheduled preventative maintenance and deep cleaning in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces to ensure everything is in working order and well-maintained.

Requirements

Previous building operations engineering experience preferred
HVAC Training preferred
Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions
Ability to work any hours/ days during the week and weekends

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and deep cleaning of all surfaces in guest rooms as required, including inspecting/flipping mattresses, box springs, vacuuming behind and underneath furniture, spot cleaning carpets and upholstery, touch-up painting, touch-up furniture, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, ensuring that all hardware and appliances are present in the room and in working order, cleaning and replacing light fixtures, and inspecting grout and caulking.
Perform miscellaneous minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls.
Ensures that any nonfunctioning items are properly identified, repaired, and returned to service quickly or are disposed of properly.
Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the manager/supervisor.
Responds promptly to maintenance emergencies, and is able to anticipate guests’ needs.
Adheres to all safety and security guidelines regarding equipment safety, guest safety and safe chemical handling procedures.
