About The Position

Thompson Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Preventative Maintenance & Mitigation Specialist to help clients reduce electrical risk, improve system reliability, and stay compliant with evolving safety standards. This role sits at the intersection of electrical engineering, safety, and client advisory work. You’ll partner closely with customers, engineers, and field teams to turn assessment findings into practical, real-world mitigation solutions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Safety, or a related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or journey-level electrical licensure, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA standards (70, 70B, 70E).
  • Ability to understand and interpret electrical distribution systems, schematics, and engineering documentation.
  • Self-directed with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Comfortable navigating industrial job sites indoors and outdoors.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel nationwide approximately 30%.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD, EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM PowerTools.
  • CESCP certification and/or PE licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with clients and internal teams to maintain accurate arc flash studies in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70, 70B, and 70E.
  • Review electrical system assessments, infrared thermography results, and analysis reports to develop mitigation and remediation strategies.
  • Create technical reports, calculations, and documentation supporting electrical analysis studies and maintenance programs.
  • Perform jobsite walk-throughs to gather data and support effective mitigation planning.
  • Present mitigation options to clients and lead or support implementation efforts.
  • Develop Electrical Maintenance Programs (EMPs) with clients and internal teams.
  • Manage multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
