The Osborne Association serves individuals, families, and communities affected by the criminal justice system, offering opportunities for healing, restoration, and thriving. The organization challenges systems rooted in racism and retribution, advocating for policies that promote safety, justice, and liberation. Guided by core values, they honor capacity for change, celebrate shared humanity, pursue justice and equity, keep commitments, and advocate with determination. The association is seeking a full-time Mitigation Specialist for its Court Advocacy Services team. This role involves conducting detailed investigations and biopsychosocial assessments of clients to assist defense counsel in pre-plea or pre-sentence phases of criminal matters. The specialist will advocate before the Court, District Attorney’s Office (DAO), and Department of Probation (DOP) for alternatives to incarceration and detention/bail reduction. This position follows a hybrid work schedule, serving Rensselaer, Columbia, Greene, Albany, and expanding communities, and will be based out of the Troy office. The role requires in-person meetings with clients and court appearances, with flexibility for remote work based on program needs. Work locations include the Troy Osborne office, various courts, and client meeting locations. Hybrid schedules are subject to change.
