About The Position

This position's principal function is to perform professional investigative work during rotating shifts, 7 days a week to provide quality and timely information to the criminal courts, which supports the judicial decision to release or detain defendants pending trial and to prescreen for indigence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) or more years of Criminal Justice, Case Management or Investigative experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • STRONG Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to create and format spreadsheets, organize data using sorting and filtering tools, use basic formulas, and perform essential data management tasks.
  • Proficient in additional Microsoft Office software and various other software programs and databases.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain NCIC security clearance.
  • Citizen of the United States and over 21 years of age.
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license or the ability to obtain one upon acceptance of the position.
  • Ability to obtain NCIC inquiry certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to obtain NAPSA Pretrial Professional certification within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews defendants’ rights, obtains and verifies defendants’ information, gathers and analyzes data, and produces a quality summary report to be provided to judges for use in their pretrial release or detention decisions.
  • May be designated to report to work during hazardous weather or emergency conditions.
