About The Position

This role is unique in the fact that you will be assisting in keeping the neighborhoods of the district clean, but you will be providing much-needed engagement with the public to help make visitors and residents enjoy their communities' experiences. Whether it's a smile or a suggestion for restaurants so that everyone enjoys their experience being outside, we want to have outgoing and friendly people to provide it. Block by Block provides cleaning, safety, beautification, and hospitality services - in a nutshell, we provide services for anything your city needs to be a more desirable destination. We are currently seeking some very friendly & detail-oriented people to join our team and make a difference in your city. We need the following in a candidate: a strong work ethic, an outgoing personality, a great eye for detail, and a desire to work within a happy team. This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of tasks to improve the overall appearance of the service district to which they are assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work outdoors. (That is where the dirty sidewalks are.)
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, walk and bend when pressure washing.
  • Must have a clean driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Pressure washing experience REQUIRED
  • Valid Driver's License REQUIRED
  • Weekend availability REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to use hand tools PREFERRED

Responsibilities

  • Circulates through assigned work zone in the district or civic spaces, completing manual and /or mechanical cleaning of needed items/spaces.
  • Operates a large hot water power unit to clean sidewalks, plazas, street furniture, or any other areas in need of cleaning.
  • Operates ATLV or litter vacuum to sweep up litter, debris, leaves, etc.
  • Follows all safety protocols to safeguard equipment, vehicles and pedestrians while operating equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and provides basic daily maintenance such as cleaning filters, emptying hoppers, etc.
  • Reports issues to the supervisor immediately.
  • Watches for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and reports to Operations Manager via observation and report through two-way radios. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other similar identifiers.
  • Seeks to actively engage or acknowledge pedestrians with a friendly greeting or identifies visitors in order to provide directions, information, city information, or recommendations.
  • Provides written reports via the SMART system of broken infrastructure and graffiti, and provides a basic daily report of inspections, accomplishments, and tasks completed.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
  • Must maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and overall Block by Block standards of expected professionalism.
