About The Position

All porters/pressure washers employed by GI Services are responsible for all assigned waste collection and pressure washing. It is expected that every porter/pressure washer employee will conduct his/her self in a professional manner at all times and perform all duties as assigned in a safe manner. The primary duty of all porters/pressure washers personnel is to perform manual cleaning assignments, operate pressure washing equipment and related company vehicle. Porters/pressure washers are responsible for the collection and hand loading of commercial, residential, city waste and the pressure washing of surfaces identified in the scope of work. Our porters/pressure washers must also be able to communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, the general public and GI Services Operations Managers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to operate pressure washing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and identify issues and complete in a safe timely manner.
  • Attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to adhere to route schedules and assigned tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English / Spanish
  • Work experience in the waste, environmental services, energy, parking lot maintenance or transportation industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in picking up and transporting waste safely, according to all federal, state and local rules and regulations.
  • Manual cleaning will include, but not limited to, sweeping, picking up litter, pressure washing, graffiti removal, backpack blowers, bus stop maintenance, bulky pick-up and disposal.
  • Pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts on a daily basis.
  • Communicating any issues to Operations Manager, Route Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution. This includes, but is not limited to re-routes, adjustments in container sizes, training, etc.
  • Ensure waste, waste water, supplies, and material handling equipment is secured prior to operating vehicle on public highway.
  • Respects the property of all residential, commercial, and city customers.
  • Responsible for cleaning the inside and exterior of the trucks, and support equipment on a daily basis and reports any observed maintenance problems.
  • Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while loading and unloading vehicle.
