  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience managing teams across multiple locations.
  • High level of accuracy in managing artwork files, quality control, and ensuring that all pre-press files meet production requirements.

  • Staff Development & Training: Provide ongoing training and professional development to prepress operators, graphic designers, and technicians on industry best practices, software tools, and equipment used in corrugated packaging design and production.
  • Performance Management: Monitor the performance of team members, provide feedback, and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Artwork Review & Preflight: Ensure that all artwork files (digital designs, graphics, logos) are preflighted and meet the technical requirements for printing, including checking for resolution, color profiles, file formats, and font issues.
  • File Preparation: Manage the preparation of artwork and digital files for corrugated packaging products, ensuring that files are correctly formatted and ready for production.
  • Standardize Workflows: Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for prepress workflows to improve consistency and reduce errors across all plants.
  • Maintain Version Control: Ensure that correct and updated versions of artwork are used in production runs to avoid errors or reprints.
  • Liaison with Designers and Production Managers: Act as the key point of contact between design teams, pre-press departments, and production managers to ensure that designs are feasible for manufacturing and that production timelines are met.
  • Collaborate with Production Teams: Ensure designs are optimized for the corrugating, printing, and converting processes, maintaining quality standards while optimizing material usage.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues that arise with artwork, design, or production processes (e.g., color inconsistencies, print defects, or alignment issues).
  • Pre-Press Quality Assurance: Ensure that all pre-press work meets the quality requirements for the final product, including printing quality, die-cut accuracy, and adherence to customer specifications.
  • Implement Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas of improvement in the pre-press workflow and collaborate with other departments to implement improvements, reduce waste, and enhance production efficiency.

  • Software Expertise: Ensure that the pre-press team is proficient in software tools like Adobe Illustrator, ArtPro, Flexo, CAD software for corrugated design, and other pre-press tools.
  • Hardware Oversight: Supervise the proper functioning of pre-press equipment (e.g., computers, printers, proofing devices, and plates) across multiple plants. Work with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated properly.
  • Technology Upgrades: Stay updated on the latest industry software, technology, and trends in pre-press and packaging design to ensure that the plant uses the most efficient and effective tools.
  • Monitor Production Schedules: Coordinate the pre-press production schedule to ensure that artwork is prepared and approved on time, meeting deadlines for the production floor.
  • Prioritize Projects: Prioritize pre-press work based on customer demands, production schedules, and complexity of the artwork or packaging design.
  • Manage Workflow: Oversee the workflow of pre-press tasks to ensure smooth transitions between design, pre-press, and production teams, minimizing downtime and bottlenecks.
  • Customer Interaction: Occasionally interact with customers to ensure the pre-press designs meet their specifications and provide solutions to any design or artwork-related issues.
  • Vendor Liaison: Manage relationships with external vendors (e.g., graphic design agencies, software vendors) to ensure that all materials and resources needed for pre-press are available and up to standard.
  • Pre-Press Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of all pre-press processes, including artwork approvals, changes, and any issues encountered during the preparation stages.
