About The Position

This role is responsible for operating a press machine, ensuring quality and efficiency in production. The Pressman will understand job ticket information, inspect printing materials, proof plates, set up and operate the press, manage color and registration, and perform maintenance. The position also involves using shop floor data collection terminals and performing other related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least 2 years of related experience with a color press
  • Ability to operate hand carts, pallet jacks, and stackers
  • Ability to handle potentially hazardous materials
  • Must possess a high standard of personal integrity.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to follow instructions to assist in operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language
  • Must have basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Must have a positive attitude and good teamwork skills
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check prior to hire

Responsibilities

  • Understand job ticket information to determine quantity, special work instructions, and customer requirements.
  • Locate and inspect printing material for conformance to specified requirements.
  • Proof plates to ensure correct graphics before production.
  • Set rollers, hang plates, apply ink, set fountain settings, and perform all related machine operations.
  • Run make-ready sheets and line up for proper position and layout.
  • Start up and operate the press efficiently.
  • Bring process colors and/or special colors into register.
  • Measure registration using registration marks and dot alignment.
  • Achieve ink and water balance.
  • Set and adjust inks to achieve required colors matching specified requirements.
  • Maintain and adjust ink levels during production to match specified requirements.
  • Achieve and monitor UV lighting levels for proper curing rate to prevent offset and delamination.
  • Examine press sheets during production for normal and special variations.
  • Set up jobs and maintain color control using the Intellitrax system.
  • Clean the press according to the press manual.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Use shop floor data collection terminals with consistency and accuracy.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned.
