About The Position

The Press Technician position will be located in our new core plant in Whitehall, MI. This is an off-shift role: 2nd, 3rd or weekend shift. Primary responsibilities will include troubleshooting and problem-solving forming issues at the press, managing die/gauge storage, aiding in continuous improvements, and being a valuable link in the cell help chain. The role also involves checking overall quality of core jobs, entering data into a computer if applicable, and having a good understanding of PLC controlled presses and forming ceramics. The technician will assist production planning in press/die compatibility, review dies to verify conformity/functionality prior to setup, and notify supervisors or injection specialists of any die problems that may affect the schedule. Additionally, the role includes troubleshooting forming issues and assisting in the training and development of new set-up techs and press operators, as well as reviewing and updating coating inspection records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of two years work experience; or six months continuous manufacturing experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire
  • Good understanding of PLC controlled presses
  • Good understanding of forming ceramics

Nice To Haves

  • Injection molding or forming experience
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Previous experience in electronics, vacuum furnaces, and manufacturing process troubleshooting
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
