About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring the proper setup of presses to achieve production rates with minimal scrap. The apprentice will supply and stir ink wells, monitor and ensure print quality, and wash print blankets and plates as necessary. Additional duties include cleaning unused color heads, organizing the work area, maintaining a clean and orderly workspace, cleaning and returning printing plates, completing job tracking forms, monitoring the production schedule, cleaning ink bowls, and maintaining and enforcing all company safety, environmental, and department of health requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED equivalent
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Prior printing experience with good mechanical ability
  • Taking necessary steps to become a certified ThermoPrinting Pressman
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and direct employees
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders / steps
  • Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 7 hours during an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to work in a dusty environment
  • Visual acuity of at least 20/40 corrected vision for distance and a minimum near vision ability to read 7-point font at 12 inches.
  • Ability to reach and lift overhead

Nice To Haves

  • Match colors using ColorCert, Chroma QA and Pantone color book.
  • Perform plate changes on printing machines.
  • Perform size changes on printing machines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all color heads not in use are cleaned and ready for the next production run.
  • Organize your work area and prepare for the setup of your next job.
  • Maintain your section in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Ensure printing plates are cleaned after each use and returned to the proper location for Graphic Arts.
  • Complete a job tracking form in the plate job jacket.
  • Monitor the production schedule for special instructions.
  • Clean ink bowls and return them to the proper location.
  • Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental, and department of health requirements.
