About The Position

The Press Supervisor collaborates with the Press Manager in the day to day supervisory duties and operations of the Press Room to ensure integrity, quality and waste control while meeting production deadlines. The role involves working as part of a team to help coordinate overall press & platemaking (CTP) operations across designated shifts as needed to achieve on-time performance including product quality standards, waste goals, and operational safety including OSHA & EPA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and directing efficient press runs to ensure all production deadlines are met.
  • Supervising production during assigned shifts including training, new hire onboarding and addressing employee issues and/or concerns.
  • Performing hands-on Press Operator duties as needed due to staff shortage, machine problems and various unexpected workflow issues.
  • Assisting with press reports & web portal entries.
  • Assisting with newsprint, ink, plates & supply inventories.
  • Performing hands-on platemaking duties as needed due to staff shortage, machine problems and various unexpected workflow issues.
  • Assisting with plate reports.
  • Working in a safe manner and consistently utilizing required safety equipment to promote top-of-mind safety awareness.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assisting in leading safety compliance within the department including accident investigations and follow up.
  • Completing required annual OSHA safety training programs.
  • Reporting work-related injuries to insurance carrier.
  • Ensuring all machine safety-guards are installed, functioning properly, and in use.
  • Immediately reporting any operational concerns, potential safety hazards and all accidents/injuries and near misses to press management.
  • Providing timely & accurate reports and information to the operations team & management.
  • Communicating regarding equipment repairs and/or consumable materials to upper management.
  • Communicating scheduling needs to press management and supervisors.
