SUMMARY: A press operator will perform complex printing jobs, including set-up and troubleshooting for each job. The press operator will produce products in a highly efficient manner in alignment with business goals and KPI’s to the highest possible quality standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic math functions and use a ruler is a must.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English in order to communicate effectively with co-workers, and to follow instructions.
  • The ability to focus on objects, have good vision and be able to differentiate colors as determined by color blindness testing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, set-up, and trouble shoot flexographic printing presses and auxiliary equipment, all in accordance with production standards and productivity goals. Including: utilization of product specs (copy card), changing plates, cylinders, and dies.
  • Maintain machines by performing basic maintenance including lubricants, replace minor parts, and requests major maintenance when necessary.
  • Maintain work area utilizing 5S methods.
  • Report machine and equipment malfunctions immediately to the group leader, maintenance and/or supervisor.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Cross-train and work multiple press lines and equipment as needed.
  • Follow all quality inspection plans. This involves measuring, checking, and testing various processes and product parameters.
  • Meet established goals for material scrap and yield.
  • Collaborate with all plant leadership and departments such as engineering, procurement, customer service, and logistics to coordinate production activities, address technical issues, standardize processes, and optimize supply chain processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Support all continuous improvement initiatives as required via participation and or implementation.
  • Operate machines in a safe, efficient manner in accordance with established rules and regulations.
  • Follow and comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Report any unsafe condition(s), injury, or accident immediately to immediate supervisor or other member of management.
  • Provide improvement suggestions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by floor or plant leadership.
