About The Position

The Press Operator provides leadership on the printing press, ensuring maximum machine and raw material efficiency while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. The operator follows the production schedule, manages line changeovers for maximum efficiency, and produces high-quality products while meeting safety, quality, and productivity goals.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Five years of press operating experience.

Responsibilities

Verify tooling and materials are available before setup begins.
Read and thoroughly understand the Job Ticket before starting each job.
Remove and mount print plates as needed.
Achieve optimal setup, changeover, and wash-up times.
Operate at the highest speed possible without compromising job quality or crew safety.
Produce jobs according to the specifications and instructions on the Job Ticket.
Identify and flag product with questionable quality.
Minimize unnecessary waste and spoilage of film, ink, chemicals, and other supplies.
Facilitate post-press operations by providing properly printed identification on rolls.
Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of printing presses.
Maintain cleanliness and order around the printing presses.
Record necessary job data accurately and enter accurate information into the data collection process.
Understand color and the instruments used to monitor or correct color during make-ready and press runs.
Maintain and understand the tools and instruments used to operate and maintain the press.
Cooperate with the pre-press department when needed for job production.
Work effectively in a team environment.
Follow company safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Work scheduled hours with predictable and reliable attendance.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
