About The Position

Amsted Automotive Powder Metal in Geneva, Illinois, is seeking a Press Operator to operate presses of up to 1,600 tons on single-level parts. This is a first-shift position, scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The employee processes quality parts using powder metal presses and related equipment, maintains production quality and records, and follows safety and quality policies in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability.
Excellent manual dexterity.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

Process quality parts on powder metal presses and related equipment.
Adjust machines as needed to assure part quality.
Operate all types of compacting or restrike presses.
Use calibrated gauges to check and record production to specific tolerances.
Use SPC charts and support equipment to maintain quality.
Load and unload parts and visually inspect them for defects.
Check and weigh parts according to the schedule and job specifications.
Perform preventative maintenance on machines as required.
Complete necessary recordkeeping and paperwork, including material certification paperwork.
Help train and assist operators as required.
Seek help when problems arise and ask questions when instructions are unclear.
Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
Use testing devices, chemicals, and material-moving equipment according to applicable guidelines and procedures.
Follow safety rules, keep the work area clean and orderly, and wear required personal protective equipment.
Use assigned work periods, machinery, equipment, and tools professionally and responsibly.
Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy, taking pride in the products produced.
