About The Position

Alexandria Industries is hiring a Press Operator to operate an extrusion press and produce aluminum parts that meet customer specifications. The role involves setting up and running the press, checking work, and maintaining a safe and organized work area. Employees are cross-trained in every department function to continue building their skills.

The position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, and works the first shift from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Pay is $22.00 to $28.60 per hour. The production environment is loud and warm, and items weighing more than 40 pounds are moved with team lifts or a crane.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
• Ability to read die drawings.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to use overhead cranes and lift trucks.
• Comfort working in a loud, warm production environment.
• Ability to use team lifts or a crane for items over 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of the aluminum age cycle.
• Understanding of the steps before and after extrusion.

Responsibilities

• Set up and safely and efficiently operate the extrusion press.
• Monitor process data and adjust billets to maintain quality.
• Take and inspect samples for surface finish and tolerances.
• Read manufacturing orders and die drawings.
• Perform general machine maintenance.
• Keep the work area organized using 5S practices.
• Cross-train in every department function.
