About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to support the needs of all Lower Plant teams by safely setting up and operating a bank of presses ranging from a 10-ton mechanical punch press to a 135-ton hydraulic press and adjacent 30-60 ton mechanical presses to provide punched metal components on a timely basis. This role requires a thorough understanding of the Trilennium product lines and the ability to work independently in a single-cell environment. The operator will be responsible for maintaining equipment, ensuring proper die operation, and keeping the work area neat and tidy. Accuracy in reporting production and scrap, along with maintaining inventory levels, is crucial. The position involves regular communication with leadership, inventory, and maintenance teams, and may require serving as backup in other departments.

Requirements

  • Complete understanding of entire Trilennium product line.
  • Capable of reading a tape measure and precision measuring equipment.
  • Completion of 9th grade.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Self-motivated working with limited supervision.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to keep stocked assembly components and determine when stocking levels are low and need replenishment.
  • Ability to work directly with leads and supervision for special punching needs daily/weekly.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (i.e. hi-vis shirt or vest, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety toe shoes, and ear muffs).

Responsibilities

  • Safely set up and operate a bank of presses ranging from a 10-ton mechanical punch press to a 135-ton hydraulic press and adjacent 30-60 ton mechanical presses.
  • Provide punched metal components on a timely basis.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Trilennium product lines.
  • Safely operate basic shop machinery such as drill presses, tapping heads, Time Saver sander, etc. and hand tools.
  • Safely guide the transfer and installation of heavy die components with help of fellow operator(s) and hydraulic lift cart.
  • Recognize equipment anomalies and work effectively with maintenance to promptly resolve equipment problems.
  • Perform appropriate press PM and document such actions.
  • Monitor die operation for proper slug discharge, cleaning, and identify when die needs repair or sharpening.
  • Keep area neat and tidy, stores dies and tools properly, and enforce area 5S requirements.
  • Practice proper lockout and blocking procedures when setting up press.
  • Monitor inventory levels of select stock items and ensure they are readily available.
  • Accurately report production to supervision and scrap to inventory control associates.
  • Ensure all inventory tags are scanned or made for the raw metals and material being punched via QAD.
  • Become forklift certified if necessary.
  • Practice excellent communication with leadership, inventory and maintenance.
  • Serve as backup in areas such as security flanges, Piranha and Cincinnati presses, and other depts as needed.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
