About The Position

The position is responsible to set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a number of press equipment. This role involves performing all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated, such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections and checking for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register. The operator will make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work. Additionally, the role includes cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required, and performing periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer. This position also involves training and mentoring new and existing employees, ensuring consistent knowledge of company policies, procedures, and best practices to improve team performance and productivity.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand job specifications.
  • Knowledge of press capabilities to determine appropriate press usage, settings, and materials.
  • Skill to make difficult and precise settings of controls, settings, and adjustments.
  • Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.
  • Knowledge of appropriate packing pressure for proper printing pressure.
  • Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.
