About The Position

The Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating press machines according to production specifications and safety procedures. This role involves loading raw materials, monitoring machine cycles, inspecting finished products, and performing routine maintenance. The operator will interpret production orders and technical specifications, ensuring compliance with quality standards and safety regulations. Participation in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives is also expected.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 1+ year of experience operating press machinery in a manufacturing environment
• Basic understanding of press operations, materials handling, and mechanical adjustments
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and measurement tools
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Good physical condition (standing for long periods, lifting up to 40lbs, repetitive motion)
• Technical or vocational training in manufacturing or mechanical operations
• Familiarity with progressive die and punch press operations
• Forklift certification
• Experience working under Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles
• Visual acuity for inspection and reading measurements

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate press machines according to production specifications and safety procedures
• Load raw materials and monitor machine cycles for optimal operation
• Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools to ensure conformity to specifications
• Make necessary adjustments to press equipment to maintain quality and output standards
• Interpret production orders, part drawings, and technical specifications
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and report mechanical issues as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation for production output, scrap, and downtime
• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures; use PPE as required
• Participate in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives within the department
