About The Position

This role is responsible for operating a printing press, ensuring accurate job completion, and maintaining operational standards. The Press Operator will plan jobs ahead, examine orders for specifications, and fill out necessary documentation. They will monitor press operations, communicate with the feeder operator, and perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning and lubrication. Quality control, particularly in color management, is a key aspect of this position. The operator is also responsible for preparing the press for the next shift to ensure a smooth transition.

Requirements

  • Ability to enter job completion details accurately into the OMS visual system.
  • Skill in planning jobs ahead to ensure material readiness.
  • Proficiency in examining job orders for printing quantities, stock specifications, color, and special instructions.
  • Competence in filling out job-related documentation (load tags, orders, data analysis, coating documentations).
  • Ability to monitor feeding and printing operations for optimal performance and to detect malfunctions.
  • Strong communication skills to relay responsibilities and daily tasks to the feeder operator.
  • Experience in cleaning ink fountains and performing line clearance protocols.
  • Knowledge of greasing and lubricating press according to manufacturing specifications and maintenance programs.
  • Understanding of quality and procedures for managing color on a printing press.
  • Ability to prepare the press for the next shift.

  • Grease and lubricate press to manufacturing specifications and per the company’s planned maintenance program.
  • Manage color on the printing press according to quality and procedures.
  • Prepare the press for the next shift, aiming for a running press at shift change.
