About The Position

This role involves operating a printing press, ensuring accurate job completion details are entered into the OMS visual system, and planning several jobs ahead to ensure material readiness. The operator will examine job orders to determine printing quantities, stock specifications, color, and special instructions. Responsibilities include filling out proper documentation, monitoring feeding and printing operations, and communicating daily tasks to the feeder operator. The role also requires assisting with ink fountain cleanup, performing line clearance, greasing and lubricating the press according to specifications and the planned maintenance program, and managing color quality on the press. A key aspect is preparing the press for the next shift, aiming for a running press at shift change. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to enter job completion details accurately into OMS visual system.
  • Ability to plan several jobs ahead.
  • Ability to examine job orders for printing quantities, stock specifications, color, and special instructions.
  • Proficiency in filling out proper documentation (load tags, orders, data analysis, coating documentations).
  • Skill in monitoring feeding and printing operations.
  • Ability to detect malfunctions.
  • Capability to relay responsibilities and communicate daily tasks.
  • Experience in cleaning ink fountains and performing line clearance.
  • Knowledge of greasing and lubricating presses to manufacturing specifications.
  • Understanding of quality and procedures when managing color on the printing press.
  • Ability to prepare the press for the next shift.

Responsibilities

  • Fill out all proper documentation relating to job requirements (e.g., load tags, orders, data analysis, coating documentations).
  • Monitor feeding and printing operations to maintain specified operating level and to detect malfunctions.
  • Relay responsibilities to the feeder operator and communicate daily tasks.
  • Clean up ink fountains during job change over process and perform line clearance protocols from previous job.
  • Grease and lubricate press to manufacturing specs, and per the company’s planned maintenance program.
  • Manage color quality and procedures on the printing press.
  • Prepare the press for the next shift, aiming for a running press at shift change.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
