About The Position

ProAmpac in Battle Creek, MI is seeking a skilled and motivated 2nd Press Operator to support the operation of high-speed flexographic printing equipment in our growing packaging manufacturing facility. If you are mechanically inclined, safety focused, and take pride in producing high-quality work, we want to hear from you. As a 2nd Press Operator, you will work alongside the Press Operator to set up, operate, monitor and maintain printing presses used to produce flexible packaging products for customers across a variety of industries.

Requirements

  • Previous printing, packaging, manufacturing or machine operation experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficient in using rulers, measuring tapes, and other measuring devices to accurately verify dimensions and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to monitor and maintain product quality.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and accurately follow written instructions, work orders, and production documentation.
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Receptive to coaching, guidance, and direction from supervisors and management.
  • Ability to identify print defects and maintain quality standards.
  • Consistently adheres to established work rules, safety standards, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Effective team player with the ability to collaborate and communicate in a team-oriented work environment.
  • Candidates must be available for all 3 shifts.
  • Mandatory Overtime may be required or at your discretion including some weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Flexographic printing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with press set up and operate printing equipment according to job specifications, standard procedures, and production schedules.
  • Prepare inks, cylinders, plates and sleeves and other materials required for production.
  • Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and assist with repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure production targets, quality standards, and waste reduction goals are achieved.
  • Follow all Quality System requirements and complete required quality checks, including viscosity testing, SPC charts, and production documentation.
  • Issue, record, and track raw materials, including data entry into AS400 and other production systems.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and compliance records, including hoist, hook, sling, AIB, and environmental documentation.
  • Assist with order preparation, machine operation, and changeovers to support efficient production flow.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with environmental and company standards.
  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures and support a culture of workplace safety.
