About The Position

The Printing Press Operator reports to the Production Supervisor of the Printing Department. Prepares press for flexographic printing including set-up. Responsible for all aspects of quality/productivity associated with materials processed through assigned machinery. This position requires skill progression and testing. In this position the press operator is responsible for all aspects of printing press run including but not limited to orientation of flexographic plates, flexographic ink distribution, job setup, preparing printing presses for quality printing, and the press run. Position entails all aspects of press run including preparation, set-up, production, troubleshooting, quality checks, and routine equipment management. Notify management whenever equipment is found to be malfunctioning, damaged, or in need of repair. Maintain production and quality standards as set forth by Department Manager. Organizes workflow for smooth operation. Makes necessary adjustments and monitors equipment so that product complies with work order. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • Ability to read and understand a measuring tape
  • Good speaking skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and employees both in person and through written and verbal correspondence
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal direction and be self-motivated

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduation or its equivalent preferred
  • Prior Central Impression Press operation preferred
  • Knowledge of late model, automatic presses is also preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
