The Press Operator I is responsible for operating stamping presses and performing required secondary operations to complete assigned work orders. This entry-level role ensures parts are produced to quality standards by following established procedures, performing inspections, maintaining supplies, and supporting efficient production flow.

Requirements

  • Experience using basic hand tools, measuring tools, or production equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation.
  • Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn press operations and quality inspection techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior manufacturing or machine-operation experience preferred but not required for entry-level consideration.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operates assigned stamping press and related equipment according to standard operating procedures.
  • Performs secondary operations as required to complete work orders.
  • Adds designated stamping lubricant to reservoirs and empties waste oil into approved containers as needed.
  • Performs visual inspections for defects, including slug marks, malformed parts, and damaged components.
  • Conducts required quality checks such as camber, twist, hard gauge checks, insertion force, and withdrawal force.
  • Accurately records inspection results on the QIP Inspection Data Sheet.
  • Completes all required paperwork for assigned equipment, including work order travelers, lot/reel labels, box content forms, and machine maintenance records.
  • Verifies reel/lot counts at completion of each lot and applies proper identification labels.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies at each assigned machine to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Changes reels or boxes as needed and moves finished goods to designated warehouse locations.
  • Empties slug pans at minimum once per shift and whenever a work order is completed.
  • Keeps the work area clean, organized, and free of excess debris.
  • Follows all safety procedures, including machine safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Manages time effectively to maximize production output and minimize downtime.
  • Performs packaging duties for loose-piece products as needed.
  • Follow safe work practices and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s Employee Handbook and Local Work Rules. In addition, adhere to the proper Code of Conduct while on company property.
