About The Position

This role involves assisting the Press Operator in the safe and efficient operation of printing presses. The assistant will learn all aspects of the printing trade with the goal of becoming a Press Operator. Key responsibilities include maintaining a clean work area, supplying ink, preparing paper rolls, and assisting with setups and production. The position requires adherence to all safety guidelines and procedures, including understanding Job Safety Analysis and Energy Safe Procedures.

Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management.
Must possess basic math skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions.
Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Must be able to lift to 80 pounds.
Willingness to work 12 hours on a day, evening or night schedule.

Nice To Haves

Previous machine operator experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow all safety guidelines and procedures as required.
Understand the Job Safety Analysis and Energy Safe Procedures for your position and machine.
Continually learn all aspects of the safe and efficient operation of the press to become a Press Operator.
Keep the area around the press clean and orderly, and to help the press operator as may be required. (Ink and Oil should be cleaned up as soon as possible.)
Aid the Operator at all times to facilitate set-up or production.
Keep the ink supplied to all ink fountains.
Shaft the rolls of paper for the press.
Read and check the next order for paper, ink and other supplies as needed.
Record all ink and mill roll usage on proper forms.
Operate Alar Machine as required.
Perform all job duties assigned by Operator and Supervisors.
Report major machine repairs to the shift leader.
