About The Position

This position is responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining flexographic printing press equipment. The role involves performing all make-ready tasks, including mounting plates, installing print cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, checking image positioning, prepping web paths, and adjusting tension and register. The operator will also make necessary color corrections and anilox adjustments, and perform press adjustments to meet quality specifications. Additionally, the position requires cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining the press, performing minor repairs, and replacing worn or broken parts. Periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer is also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of Flexographic printing procedures, materials and specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
  • Skill to read and understand job specifications.
  • Knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully.
  • Skill to make a variety of difficult precise web paths, and adjustments.
  • Skill to perform routine operational maintenance of equipment.
  • Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, Excel, Word and Google are preferred.
  • Skill in use of Mark Andy, Aquaflex, Comco, Webtron, Gallus, Nil Peter preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain flexographic press equipment.
  • Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the Flexographic press, such as mounting plates or installing print cylinders.
  • Examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and check for correct positioning of images.
  • Prep web paths, adjust tension and register.
  • Make necessary color correction and anilox adjustment and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain quality specifications.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press.
  • Make minor repairs and replace worn or broken parts as required.
  • Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.
