About The Position

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Press Maintenance Mechanic I to be responsible for the inspection, installation, and repair of machines used in production, as well as within the tool room and maintenance machining areas. This role involves building and rebuilding equipment for various manufacturing needs. Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of Machine Repair experience (required).
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties, including following work instructions, safety procedures, and company communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge of press operation and functionality.
  • Advanced knowledge of lubrication systems (operation & functionality).
  • Knowledge of bearing/motor life (lubrication, how to tell when bearing needs lube, if there is too much lubrication, not enough, etc.).
  • Advanced troubleshooting skillset when working on mechanical issues.
  • Basic troubleshooting skillset when working on electrical issues.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of Machine Repair experience (preferred).
  • Robotics training (preferred).
  • Press specific training (preferred).
  • Journeyman card or Machine Repair Journeyman Apprenticeship Completion or equal education/contact hours (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Follow specified maintenance and repair procedures to install, maintain, and repair production machinery and tools.
  • Utilize Plex to document appropriate downtime codes.
  • Complete all tasks required of a Press Maintenance Mechanic I.
  • Mechanically and electrically troubleshoot issues using a meter.
  • Repair/replace/troubleshoot press mechanical components (with guidance from press maintenance mechanic level III).
  • Read mechanical and electrical prints for troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot, isolate and repair manufacturing machinery & equipment.
  • Use the following equipment safely: Hand Tools, Hand and Surface Grinders, Wheel Puller, Torches, Pipe Threader, Hydraulic Jack, Welders, Scissor Lift, Boom lift, Lathe, Forklift, Milling Machine, Drill Presses, and Basic Rigging knowledge.
  • Provide coaching and direction to Press Maintenance Mechanics level I.
  • Help develop specific maintenance and repair procedures to install, maintain, and repair production equipment and tools.
  • Proactively participate in continuous improvement efforts and drive process, tooling, and equipment enhancements that will improve production efficiency and product quality.
  • Complete and manage work orders via the Plex systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and provide input on updates to preventative maintenance schedules.
