About The Position
Hood Packaging is a family-owned manufacturing business with 23 production sites across Canada and the United States, specializing in quality packaging materials. Our Montreal division focuses on the production and printing of plastic film for various industries, including the food sector. We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team at our Saint-Léonard plant as Press Helpers. This entry-level position offers comprehensive in-house training, with opportunities for advancement to apprentice and then operator roles on various machines. Success in probationary periods and interest in different departments can lead to opportunities in extrusion, slitting, press, lamination, and other plant services.
Requirements
- Entry level position
- Willingness to learn and grow within the company
- Ability to work on the night shift
- Ability to work a continental schedule (alternating between 36 and 48 hours per week)

- Interest in becoming an operator for various machines
- Interest in other departments such as extrusion, slitting, press, or lamination
Responsibilities
- Respect the safety rule and food quality policies.
- Assist the Press Operator in the operation of a printing press for plastic film.
- Retrieve the inks and solvents required for the current order.
- Prepare the rolls of film and fill the ink tanks.
- Help the Operator to thread the machine at start-up.
- Clean the press and all other materials required for the order as well as the work area.
- Strip and clean the plates from the previous order.
