Requirements

  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Must have the skills necessary to perform technical tasks.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and detail orientation.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to follow verbal or written instructions.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation.
  • Walking or standing for extended periods of time, up to 12-hours
  • Lifting to 50lbs
  • Carrying to 30 lbs.
  • Lowering to 30 lbs. from a height of 4 feet
  • Lifting to 85 lbs. to height of 6 feet (2-person job)
  • Visual acuity and depth perception
  • Working in various temperatures & humidity levels.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare rolls for printing and ensure ink and printing plates are ready for the Press Operator to use.
  • Keep the area clean.
  • Assist the Press Operator with changeovers.
  • Work in a safe manner, and obey all safety rules.
  • Understand and align business operations through execution of the role, exceeding customer expectations and aligning with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
  • Work within and adhere to GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and orderly manner; Be actively engaged in safety programs.
  • Ensure production and distribution of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation and quality standards.
  • Check size and basis weight of rolls at the press.
  • Make rolls press ready.
  • Dispose of outer wrap and scrap in proper areas.
  • Assist other Press Helpers, as needed.
  • Have cylinders made ready and ink at the press prior to changeover.
  • Keep the press unwind loaded with paper at all times.
  • Assist Press Operator with changeover, keeping ink and cylinders prepped.
  • Return ink to ink room.
  • Cut down make-readies and delta scrap before the end of the shift.
  • Clean printing plates before returning them to the mounting room.
  • Help mounter in mounting room.
  • Communicate effectively with oncoming shift.
  • Once qualified, instruct and train other Press Helpers.
  • Maintain all work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Fulfill overtime requirements necessary to ensure production and distribution requirements are met.
  • Assist with all shut-down and start-up procedures.
  • Assist in other areas or perform other duties, as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
