About The Position

Van Compass is a manufacturer of Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit van suspension and exterior accessories. The Press Brake Operator / Laser Cutter Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC press brake and laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality fabricated parts that meet engineering specifications, safety standards, and production schedules. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret drawings, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings
  • Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, measurements)
  • Experience using hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and quality

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience operating CNC press brake and/or laser cutting machines
  • Experience working with sheet metal fabrication
  • Familiarity with CNC controls
  • Understanding of material types and thicknesses (steel, aluminum, stainless)
  • Forklift experience (or willingness to be trained)

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC press brake machines to bend, form, and shape metal components according to prints and work orders
  • Selects appropriate tooling, dies, and gauges for each job
  • Perform first-article inspections and adjust as needed
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy and cosmetic quality of formed parts
  • Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines for cutting sheet metal parts
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished parts safely
  • Monitor machine performance and cutting quality during operation
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments to ensure consistent output
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
  • Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards
  • Communicate issues related to quality, equipment, or materials to supervision
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S practices)
