About The Position

The Press Brake Operator operates a Press Brake machine to bend or form metals to meet customer specifications and production requirements following engineering documents and shop travelers. This position is focused on getting the job done right the first time by placing a high emphasis on quality of workmanship, accountability, safety, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand engineering documents and shop travelers.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to use hand held measuring tools including a tape measure and caliper.
  • Ability to recognize die profiles needed for parts based on engineered documents.
  • Knowledge of die changes and basic die maintenance.
  • Ability to setup and operate a press brake machine.
  • Understanding of finished part characteristics.
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain the machine in good working order.
  • Knowledge of lock out/tag out procedures.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years manufacturing experience in a high volume, fast paced production environment.
  • Dexterous with manufacturing equipment, basic power tools and machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • Metalworking / Hollow Metal fabrication experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing equipment experience with CNC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support all continuous improvements in safety, quality, 5S and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Provide feedback to leadership to help resolve quality issues or operational improvements in regards to productivity and procedural changes.
  • Ensure the machine is always running.
  • Communicate any issues that prevent product flow.
  • Know and abide to all company rules and policies with regards to safety and conduct, including the use and maintenance of company provided PPE.
  • Embrace the cross-training culture by a willingness to learn other jobs or tasks within the facility.
  • Do daily housekeeping to ensure the work area is always clean and organized.
  • Flexible schedule is required in regards to overtime and start time depending upon work volumes.
  • Set up and operate CNC Punch Press and maintain continuous workflow through adherence of documented processes.
  • Produce parts utilizing the ‘top down” production list.
  • Layout and load materials using measuring tools.
  • Change dies when needed according to engineering documents.
  • Perform first part inspections as well as in-process quality checks.
  • Assist with daily PM schedule for machine including maintaining dies and watching for excessive wear.
