About The Position

The Press Assistant supports the setup, operation, changeover, and maintenance of flexographic printing presses. Working alongside the Press Operator, this role helps keep production safe, efficient, on schedule, and low in waste. The position is part of a 24/7 flexographic printing operation and follows a stable night schedule: 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Wednesday through Friday and every other Saturday, with no swing or rotating shifts. Prior experience is not required; training is provided.

The role involves staging job materials, retrieving and preparing ink and cores, maintaining a clean and organized work area, following GMP and safety requirements, and assisting with routine press maintenance and production workflows. The employee must be able to work effectively on an active team, lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, differentiate colors, perform basic arithmetic, and read a ruler to 1/32 of an inch.

Responsibilities

• Support the Press Operator during press setup, operation, and changeovers to minimize waste and downtime.
• Stage ink, plates, cores, and other materials for upcoming jobs.
• Retrieve ink from inventory and assist with cutting and preparing cores as needed.
• Clean the work area and empty waste bins to maintain an organized workspace.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and safety requirements.
• Assist with routine press maintenance and efficient production workflows.
• Coordinate daily responsibilities with the Operator to keep production on schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support press and production operations.
