About The Position

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for instructing students using the classical model of learning combined with data-driven decision-making. This role involves creating daily lesson plans, participating in ongoing professional training sessions, meeting with the Director of Instruction for instructional planning based on assessment data, and working with grade-level teams of teachers to collaboratively plan and form common unit assessments.

Requirements

Degree in Early Childhood or related field, or currently pursuing an ECE or CDA degree.
At least 2 years experience working a licensed early childhood facility.
At least 21 years of age.
Valid CPR/First Aide certification.
Valid Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
Valid Food handlers card.
Current TB test (completed within the last 6 months).
Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

Plan and carry out the provided curriculum that targets different areas of child development, such as language, motor, and social skills.
Prepare children for kindergarten by introducing concepts that they will explore further in their long term social and academic future.
Provide age appropriate weekly and monthly lesson plans.
Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.
Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games, and story telling.
Work with children in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter.
Organize activities so children can learn about the world, explore interests, and develop talents.
Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime.
Keep records of the students’ progress, routines, and interests, and keep parents informed about their child’s development.
Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
Implement appropriate discipline when required.
Ensure equipment and classrooms are clean, well maintained and safe at all times.
Develop activities to stimulate the children.
Maintain student records on developmental and academic growth.
Be responsible for holding parent teachers conferences.
Establish policies and procedures for inside and outside the classroom.
Become familiar with emergency procedures and protocol.
Understand and comply with DHS rules and regulations.
Set up classroom to reflect the lessons currently being taught.
Ensure students are supervised at all times.
Keep parents informed of classroom expectations, program activities, and their child's progress.
