About The Position

Plans, organizes, and implements educational and developmental programs and activities to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of preschool-aged children. Creates a supportive experience where young children are cared for in an environment rich with sensory experiences, that is responsive to the child's individual needs, and that supports/encourages self-expression.

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older.
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate.
Minimum of (1) year of teaching experience in a developmentally appropriate, child-centered learning program for children 3-5 years of age.
Required to obtain and maintain FIRST AID and CPR certification for children.
Must have a physical exam within the year prior to start date, which includes a negative Tuberculin Test.
A Statement of Good Health will be required every (2) years from date of employment.
A working knowledge of childcare and early childhood development and State of Connecticut licensing policies.
Must possess strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

A CDA, Associate's Degree, or at least (6) college credits in early childhood education, child psychology, sociology, family studies, or elementary education (or a closely related field) is preferred.

Discuss programming goals and curriculum with parents.
Develop cooperative working relationships with coworkers and families.
