About The Position

Babilou Family US is seeking a Certified Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and sustainable learning environment where children develop curiosity, confidence, and responsibility. The teacher designs and implements high-quality curriculum, guides the teaching team, and models sustainable education practices that support children’s learning and long-term wellbeing. The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate practice, environmental stewardship, and strong partnerships with children, families, and colleagues, guided by the company’s Sustainable Education® approach and HONOR values: Humility, Open-Mindedness, Nurture, Ownership, and Recognition. The school operates year-round, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The work takes place in an active classroom with regular interaction with children, families, and colleagues, and movement between indoor and outdoor learning spaces. The role involves prolonged standing and walking for up to 75 percent of the workday; transitioning among sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting; lifting, carrying, and moving items up to 30 pounds; sitting on the floor and participating in age-appropriate activities, including light running and outdoor play supervision; and responding safely to emergencies. The teacher supervises children in classrooms, playgrounds, hallways, entryways, and common areas, and follows and models safety procedures. All employees must complete a background check as required by the Department of Early Education and Care.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Commitment to sustainable education practices and environmental stewardship.
Active teaching certification as required by state licensing.
Experience teaching young children in a childcare or educational setting.
Knowledge of child development, curriculum design, and classroom safety standards.
Ability to lead classroom operations and mentor support staff.
Ability to move throughout the school for prolonged periods, including standing and walking for up to 75 percent of the workday.
Ability to transition among sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting throughout the day.
Ability to safely lift, carry, and move items up to 30 pounds.
Ability to sit on the floor, engage at a child’s eye level, and participate in age-appropriate activities, including light running and outdoor play supervision.
Ability to supervise children in classrooms, playgrounds, hallways, entryways, and common areas, and respond quickly and safely to emergencies.
Ability to follow and model safety procedures.
Successful completion of a background check as required by the Department of Early Education and Care.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Experience integrating sustainability, nature-based learning, or eco-conscious practices into classroom settings.
Specialized training in early learning curriculum, child assessment, or instructional leadership.

Responsibilities

Design and implement daily lesson plans and learning experiences aligned with developmentally appropriate practice and sustainable education principles.
Lead classroom organization and routines that promote environmental responsibility, mindful material use, and stewardship habits.
Model best practices for the teaching team and ensure high-quality instructional delivery.
Supervise children during learning activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor exploration.
Act as a mandated reporter, recognizing, documenting, and immediately reporting suspected child abuse, neglect, or endangerment in accordance with state law.
Support children’s developmental needs and use observation and documentation to guide instruction and promote holistic growth.
Build trusting relationships with families through consistent, professional communication.
Lead or participate in conferences, family events, and community learning opportunities.
Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing training, including sustainability-focused professional learning.
Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen classroom systems, curriculum implementation, and sustainability initiatives.
Coach and support Assistant Teachers in instructional practices and environmentally responsible classroom routines.
Maintain and model safety procedures, and respond safely to emergencies.
