Preschool Teacher
About The Position
As a Preschool Teacher at Primrose School of Evergreen in San Jose, California, you will provide 3- and 4-year-old students with a fun, safe environment where they can discover new concepts with confidence. You will use the school’s daily schedule and research-informed curriculum to meet children at their individual levels and guide them through small-group instruction as they develop and understand increasingly complex information. The school provides curriculum plans, classroom resources and supplies, a co-teacher, a support teacher who covers daily breaks and planning time, and a dedicated Education Coach. The role includes working with the Education Coach to plan and implement lessons, monitoring children’s development, maintaining a safe classroom, and communicating with families.
Requirements
- Must have 12 core Early Childhood Education units with a grade of C or better, including child development, child-family-community, and two curriculum classes.
- Must have patience and a strong desire to love and nurture young children.
- Must be able to use an iPad to enter children’s daily logs and write incident reports and messages to parents.
Nice To Haves
- Work experience in a licensed childcare facility is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Engage, interact with, and supervise children in positive ways to support their growth and learning.
- Provide a safe, attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children’s creativity, exploration, and decision-making.
- Plan with the Education Coach and implement approved lesson plans and the daily classroom schedule using Primrose School curriculum outlines and materials.
- Complete, supervise, and monitor ongoing evaluations of each child’s developmental needs.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and childcare regulations.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about children’s development and classroom activities.
- Use an iPad to enter children’s daily logs and write incident reports and messages to parents.
