About The Position

Mt. Juliet Christian Academy is seeking a Long-Term Sub in our Preschool 3-year-old class. This role encompasses providing a safe, loving, and stimulating environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. Through developmentally appropriate practices and a focus on social-emotional development, the Preschool Teacher fosters a love for learning and prepares students for future academic success while nurturing their spiritual growth.

Requirements

  • Active in a local church and a loving, developing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Commitment to Christian values and the mission of First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet and Mt. Juliet Christian Academy.
  • Previous experience working with young children in a classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development theories and best practices
  • Familiarity with emergent curriculum and play-based learning approaches
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with young children and their families
  • Must pass criminal background check, fingerprinting, submit a physical exam and clearance from medical provider

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that addresses the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of young children.
  • Create a warm, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where children feel safe, valued, and respected.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging and interactive learning activities that promote curiosity, exploration, and hands-on discovery.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and providing individualized support as needed.
  • Collaborate with parents to support children’s learning and spiritual development, including regular communication and parent involvement opportunities.
  • Assess student progress through informal observations and anecdotal records, documenting growth and milestones.
  • Integrate Christian principles and values into daily activities and instruction, fostering spiritual growth and character development.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate behavior management strategies to promote positive social skills and self-regulation.
  • Create and maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education and pedagogy.
