About The Position

Under the supervision of the Preschool Director, the staff support / one-on-one is responsible for the supervised inclusion of a specific child into the Program. This role involves creating, organizing, and displaying personal leadership in a wide variety of recreational activities. The position requires encouraging positive behavior, assisting with impulse control, and fostering skill development, socialization, independence, and self-confidence in the child. The staff member will provide a safe environment and opportunities for developing peer relationships and new leisure activities.

Requirements

High School Diploma is preferred
Thorough knowledge of the specific activity preferred
Ability to teach in any given class situation
Must possess current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
DCFS Mandated Reporter Training (will train)

Responsibilities

Takes directions from the Preschool Director and classroom teachers
Attends all staff and program meetings
Arrives on time and is prepared for the day’s activities
Reports absences in a timely manner
Shows interest in the day’s activities and encourages the same for said child
Is sensitive to the individual needs of said child
Encourages positive behavior through positive reinforcement strategies and assisting with impulse control, this will be accomplished by the staff member being in close proximity and attentive of said child at all times
