The Multi-age Classroom Teacher is responsible for three and four-year-old students based on the philosophy that having an age range of more than one year in a classroom provides opportunities for younger children to learn from older children. At the same time older children benefit from opportunities to learn and grow at their own individual pace while engaging with their peers. The Multi-age model is designed to be an integrated “looping model” so that children can have the same teacher in the same classroom for two consecutive years. The Multi-age Classroom Teacher is a special education teacher responsible for the programming and implementation of Individualized Education Program services by working collaboratively with ancillary service providers and paraprofessionals to improve performance of students using evidence-based practices. This teacher will provide differentiated instruction based on the curriculum for all students. The goal for each student is to ensure kindergarten readiness.
