About The Position

If you love working with young children and believe early learning should be engaging, hands-on, and fun, this role is for you. As a Preschool Instructor, you’ll be part of a collaborative team creating a safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate environment where children can learn, explore, and grow. You won’t just “watch kids” — you’ll actively shape their preschool experience through play, creativity, and connection.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age
Sixty (60) semester hours of college coursework with at least eighteen (18) hours in early childhood education, child development, or a related field, OR Thirty (30) semester hours of college coursework and one (1) year of childcare experience, OR A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, OR A high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of childcare experience.

Responsibilities

Supervise and actively engage with preschool-aged children in both indoor and outdoor settings
Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities such as art, music, storytelling, science, and play-based learning
Prepare, organize, and clean activity materials and program spaces
Support overall preschool program planning and preparation
Create a warm, caring environment where children and families feel safe, welcome, and supported
Monitor equipment and facilities for safety concerns and report issues promptly
Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and procedures
Attend required meetings and training sessions
Work collaboratively with the preschool team and Preschool Supervisor
