About The Position

The Preschool Aftercare Instructor plays a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for preschool-aged children during after-school hours. This position is responsible for supervising children, facilitating age-appropriate activities, and supporting their social, emotional, and physical development outside of regular school hours. The instructor ensures that each child feels valued and cared for while promoting positive behavior and cooperation among peers. They collaborate with parents and school staff to maintain consistent communication about children's progress and any concerns. Ultimately, the role contributes to the overall well-being and growth of young children by creating a structured yet enjoyable aftercare experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children in a childcare or educational setting.
  • Basic knowledge of child development principles.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with state childcare regulations.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with children, parents, and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience specifically in aftercare or extended day programs.
  • Familiarity with state licensing requirements for childcare programs.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure the safety of preschool children during aftercare hours.
  • Plan and implement creative, age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and help children develop conflict resolution skills.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for children.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and school staff regarding children's behavior, progress, and any incidents.
  • Assist children with snacks, hygiene, and transitions between activities as needed.
  • Monitor and document attendance and any relevant observations about children's well-being.
  • All employees are expected to maintain boundaries, follow mandated reporting requirements, and uphold our policies and procedures to protect youth and participants. This includes attending required trainings. reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and adhering to procedures that minimize risk.
  • Supervisors are also responsible for providing oversight, feedback, and accountability to ensure staff and volunteers follow these standards.
