About The Position

The Instructional Assistant will support the classroom teacher in a general education preschool setting. This role involves assisting with daily classroom activities, providing instructional support to students, and performing clerical duties. The assistant will work under the supervision of the classroom teacher and report to the Principal.

Requirements

An associate of arts degree
Two years of college (48 credit hours)
Pass the ParaPro exam (state assessment test for knowledge of an ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and math)
Ability to communicate effectively with student and other staff members.
Ability to proficiently aid teacher in the performance of clerical duties.
Ability to work well with staff and students in her/his charge.

Responsibilities

Aid teacher in preparing classroom for school.
Help prepare and distribute lesson materials.
Instruct students under teacher supervision.
Keep classroom neat and orderly.
Aid teacher in arranging bulletin boards.
Supervise cafeteria, playground, etc. under teacher supervision.
Assist with all clerical duties, i.e., student records, copying, etc.
Aid in preparing the classroom for the close of school.
Maintain effective communication with teacher.
Work with groups of students inside and/or outside the classroom.
Assess abilities and assist with the collection of academic/behavioral data of students.
Nurture a positive relationship with super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
Demonstrate respect for super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives.
Work as a team player.
Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
