Preschool Cook
About The Position
The Learning Experience is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Cook to prepare daily nutritious meals for preschool children. The role supports children, families, and communities by providing healthy meals while helping ensure children’s safety through allergy tracking and proper food handling. The cook works with the Center Leadership team to purchase food and supplies, maintain inventory records, and meet local and state agency requirements. The position also involves communicating with teachers, parents, and children and adapting to the daily needs of a childcare center.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and cooking.
- Food handling certificate, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook healthy, delicious meals for preschool children that meet proper nutritional requirements.
- Maintain and track food allergies for each child and communicate identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery.
- Follow food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures and store food properly.
- Collaborate with the Center Leadership team to purchase necessary food and supplies.
- Keep inventory records as required by local and state agencies.
- Provide excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward parents and children, and communicate effectively.
- Be flexible and adaptable to the daily business needs of a childcare center.
