About The Position

The Learning Experience seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Cook to prepare nutritious daily meals for preschool children. The role helps support children, their families, and the community by serving healthy meals that meet nutritional requirements while ensuring food safety and accounting for each child’s allergies. The cook also collaborates with center leadership on purchasing food and supplies, maintaining inventory records, and adapting to the daily needs of the childcare center.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and cooking.
• Food handling certificate or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook healthy, delicious meals for preschool children that meet proper nutritional requirements.
• Maintain and track food allergies for each child and communicate identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery.
• Follow food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures and ensure food is stored properly.
• Collaborate with the Center Leadership team to purchase necessary food and supplies and maintain inventory records required by local and state agencies.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude toward parents and children; listen and communicate effectively.
• Be flexible and adaptable to the daily business needs of a childcare center.
