About The Position

The Preschool Classroom Teacher will work with a team to complete clear documentation and written reports that facilitate communication with parents, co-workers, and regulatory agents. This includes daily reports, lesson plans, newsletters, and professional development plans. The teacher will use a variety of communication strategies to support constructive relationships by being accessible, approachable, and engaged. They will integrate family requests and traditions into the classroom and provide non-judgmental support to parents, responding quickly to their concerns. The role involves assessing each child's development using progress reports, screening instruments, direct observation, and information from families and stakeholders. Assessment information will be collaborated and communicated with the classroom team, linking it with success-oriented growth opportunities in all developmental domains. The teacher must maintain knowledge of and compliance with the NAEYC code of ethics, as well as city and state regulations and accreditation requirements for early education and care programs. They will accurately complete required Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) documentation, follow food service rules, and attend necessary CACFP training. The position also involves participating in improving organizational performance by recommending areas for improvement, performing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input to department discussions. They will work with the classroom lead to maintain budget targets by recommending purchases, staffing structures, and process efficiencies. Collaboration with the team is key to planning, implementing, and communicating age-appropriate activities that facilitate the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of assigned children. Providing responsive, developmentally appropriate care for guiding children's behavior and engagement, such as inquiry, redirection, verbalizing feelings, encouraging problem-solving, and setting consistent limits to help children develop inner control, is essential. Maintaining and demonstrating high-level knowledge of child development and evidence-based practice is required. The role includes providing care and supervision of children in a child care or classroom setting.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
1+ year of work experience in a related job discipline
