About The Position

The Pre-Scale Operator (Days) will be required to understand ingredient measurements, Oracle transactions, and follow a batch record. The role focuses on meeting quality and efficiency standards through reduced scrap loss and yield improvements by accurately accounting for inventory. This position involves following written and verbal procedures to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met, assuming responsibility for the mixing area's efficiencies, safety, and quality while adhering to all GMP and PPE requirements. The operator will effectively communicate relevant information verbally and in writing. Essential Functions include coordinating master sanitation for the pre-scale area, understanding Kosher vs. Non-kosher requirements, and ensuring scales are calibrated daily with QA. The role requires understanding the flow process for all mix areas to ensure batches are ready, accurately preparing and completing all area paperwork with legible handwriting as required by the FDA. The operator will work with the Management team to monitor operational efficiencies, yields, and scrap loss, actively seeking ways to improve plant productivity. Communication with warehouse, process operators, and supervisors regarding any delays or problems in the mix area is crucial. The operator will monitor the mixing operation, ensuring ingredients are correct through the staging and mixing process, perform quality checks, and work with management and QA for items needed for release. Relieving other production team members for breaks and absences and wearing required PPE are also key functions. All other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to stand (12) hours for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift a minimum 30-50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to push/pull pallet jacks and lifts with heavy loads.
  • Ability to go up and down stairways in a timely manner repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to maintain a good attendance record.
  • Must have accurate and detailed record keeping and legible handwriting.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complex issues.
  • Understands procedures for all allergens and how to prevent cross contamination.
  • Must adhere to all GMP's and Safety Procedures established by Management.
  • Ability to access a situation and make quick and accurate decisions that will aid in production.
  • Must have good personal hygiene.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills- learn to perform and be involved with routine maintenance.
  • Work (12) hours as required as well as any overtime that may be scheduled when additional coverage is needed.
  • Works with minimal amount of supervision.
  • Must be able to evaluate a situation and make a good decision.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Maintenance Technicians in any capacity needed to expedite the repair process when Maintenance is occurring in the work area.
  • Reports equipment in a state of disrepair ASAP to avoid break downs.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Assists all areas of the plant with general housekeeping.
  • Cooperates with other shifts and the management team in housekeeping endeavors.
  • Ensures effective shift communication and teamwork with other operators occurs each scheduled shift.
  • Maintains effective communication with members of the support group.
  • Promotes and contributes to the development of a strong team.
  • Works well among co-workers as a team.
  • Assists in coaching and training employees as requested by the management team.
  • Continuously improves knowledge of the Aseptic Filling process.
  • Becomes familiar with SunOpta 360.
  • Completes and adheres to the Annual Alchemy Schedule.
  • Inventories raw ingredients.
