About The Position

Mendix is a low-code app development platform that enables a visual approach to software development, abstracting and automating the application lifecycle. Gartner predicts low-code will be responsible for over 65% of application development activity by 2024. Mendix is recognized as a leader in analyst reports and is a Siemens Business, driving digital transformation. This role focuses on helping organizations adopt Mendix low-code development on the Private Mendix Platform, a self-managed solution for customers requiring full control over their development and deployment lifecycle within their own Kubernetes or OpenShift environments, including air-gapped and sovereign deployments. The position requires a blend of application platform and infrastructure expertise, partnering with customers in regulated and security-conscious industries to demonstrate how Mendix ensures rapid application development without compromising data residency, compliance, or operational control. Key responsibilities include leading technical discovery, architecting deployment topologies, building proof-of-concepts, and acting as a trusted advisor.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in presales, solution architecture, platform engineering, or technical consulting in a customer-facing role.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift: deployments, Helm, operators, ingress, storage, registries, and troubleshooting with kubectl.
  • Working knowledge of the surrounding enterprise stack: PostgreSQL, object/file storage (S3, Azure Blob), container registries, TLS/certificates, and networking.
  • Ability to lead security and compliance conversations with infrastructure, security, and platform teams as comfortably as with business stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills — able to translate deep technical capability into business value for practitioner and executive audiences.
  • Ability to independently build and deliver demos, installs, and prototypes under deal timelines.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% within the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Mendix application development, architecture, or consulting — ideally including Mendix on Kubernetes or Private Mendix Platform deployments.
  • Experience deploying software in air-gapped, sovereign, or highly restricted network environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise secret management (AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault) and IdP integration (OIDC, SAML, SCIM).
  • Experience selling into or delivering for regulated industries (government, defense, financial services, healthcare).
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, or FIPS 140 requirements.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tooling and Git-based version control workflows in enterprise settings.
  • Already a certified Mendix Developer, Advanced Developer, or Expert.
  • Have installed or operated Private Mendix Platform, the Mendix Operator, or Mendix on Kubernetes in a customer or enterprise environment.
  • Have built customer-facing demo environments or reference architectures for self-hosted platforms.
  • Enjoy working where application development meets infrastructure — and can move fluently between Studio Pro and a kubeconfig.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer challenges, infrastructure constraints, security requirements, and modernization initiatives.
  • Design end-to-end solution and deployment architectures for Private Mendix Platform on customer-managed Kubernetes or OpenShift, including cluster topology, PostgreSQL databases, file storage, container registries, ingress/TLS, and namespace strategy.
  • Guide customers through security and compliance conversations: FIPS-compliant encryption, secret management (AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault), SSO/IdP integration (OIDC and SAML), and control frameworks such as NIST 800-53.
  • Conduct technical workshops, architecture sessions, and executive briefings; serve as a trusted advisor throughout the sales cycle.
  • Deliver compelling business and technical demonstrations of Mendix application development and the Private Mendix Platform portal — project management, private Marketplace, CI/CD, and governance capabilities.
  • Stand up proof-of-concept and pilot environments: install and configure the Mendix Operator, Private Cloud License Manager (PCLM), and optional components such as webhooks (Svix), the Build agent, PDF document generation, and Maia AI-assisted app creation.
  • Build prototype Mendix applications that showcase integration with enterprise systems, APIs, and databases inside the customer's environment.
  • Demonstrate best practices for application governance, scalability, security, and lifecycle management in self-managed deployments.
  • Help customers plan the operational side of ownership: platform upgrades, component management, licensing via PCLM, backup and environment strategies.
  • Position the roadmap from disconnected (air-gapped) to Connected mode deployments where appropriate.
  • Enable partners and customer platform teams on installation, configuration, and day-2 operations.
  • Partner with Account Executives on opportunity strategy, technical qualification, and deal progression.
  • Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and security/technical questionnaires — often deep infrastructure and compliance-focused.
  • Support marketing events, webinars, conferences, and partner enablement sessions.
  • Share field learnings with product and engineering teams to influence roadmap priorities.
